SUMMARY:aequa open house *Dec 24-Jan 2*
DESCRIPTION:[DE unten] \n\n\n\nThis event is 3G plus (Vaccinated\, recovered\, tested plus medical masks and a negative covid test within 24 hours.) \n\n\n\nIf more than 20 people confirm on one day\, the space become 2G plus (Vaccinated\, recovered plus medical masks and a negative covid test within 24 hours.) \n\n\n\nMore general details on our events\, our Covid hygiene concept\, and access information for the community centre. \n\n\n\nGetting presents\, planning and preparing holiday dinners\, organizing family activities and gathering everyone together. And all this in a festively decorated home\, carefully prepared with homemade cookies on the table. The hairstyle is in place\, the dress is new and the mood is great. Or is it? This time of year is not always\, and especially not for everyone\, a celebration of love\, joy\, and harmony. Often stress\, sadness\, and loneliness interfere. For many people\, moreover\, these days are increasingly becoming a serious burden. \n\n\n\nOur doors remain open to all who look for some company. Let’s read books together\, play games\, do crafts or just hang out. The offer depends on the demand and the current COVID situation. Should we be allowed to meet and feel safe doing so\, the aequa Community Centre will be open from December 24 to January 2\, between 3pm and 9pm. There is the possibility to join via Zoom. If we can’t meet in person\, there will be an online option where you can drop in when and for how long you want. For easier coordination and communication\, we have created a Telegram chat for this. If you are interested in attending the aequa Open House\, feel free to join the chat (https://t.me/+Xpcz2bmf4lYwNDRi).Warmly\, Charlie from aequa \n\n\n\n=== \n\n\n\nEs handelt sich um eine 3G plus Veranstaltung (geimpft\, genesen\, getestet\, medizinische Masken und ein negativer Covid-Test der letzten 24 Stunden).

SUMMARY:Equity Reading Circle - mid December
DESCRIPTION:aequa Equity Book Circle is a space dedicated to learning\, connecting\, exchanging\, and engaging with the social movement work we believe in. We come to this circle because there is a lot we don’t know\, and exploring together feels rewarding in a special way. We also come to this circle because we don’t want our individual & communal knowledge gaps to remain an excuse that stops us from being active. \n\n\n\nOur work aims at sharing resources\, testing structures\, reaffirming motivations\, visiting history\, finding focus\, encouraging curiosity. In the past\, we’ve dug into the subjects such as: climate justice\, queer & feminist approaches to movement work\, materialist “spirituality” for responding to change\, stories of refugee women in Germany\, education as a tool for liberation\, poetry attending to the postcolonial world. A central agreement we have is based on mutual aid: we aim to make room for everyone’s fluctuating capacity\, so that we each alternately feed and get fed by the group’s energy. \n\n\n\nWant to join? Respond to this email or write hello@aequa.cc to be added to our list. \n\n\n\nOur current book is Revolting Prostitutes: The Fight For Sex Workers’ Rights by Molly Smith and Juno Mac

SUMMARY:aequa Library first event 📚
DESCRIPTION:aequa’s Equity Library is opening its doors on the evening of December 10th for a collective reading and book swapping event.From 6.30pm to 7pm\, we will share some food and get to know each other. \n\n\n\nFrom 7pm to 7.45pm\, we will read each other texts that speak of “Home” and that also resonate with the mission of the aequa library. Home might be a feeling you miss\, a challenge you didn’t ask for\, a welcomed relief\, or an exciting journey. It might be something constant or ever-changing. Together we will travel through reading and gift ourselves a moment to reflect on stories from home. \n\n\n\nThen we will take a short break and from 8pm to 8.45pm\, we will book swap! There will be one table for lending to each other and one table for trading. Bring any book(s)\, zine(s)\, DVD(s)\, etc. that you think should be shared with the world and get ready to be curious about what others want to share with you !  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is an in-person event at aequa CC (Exerzierstr 14). aequa’s Covid-19 Hygiene concept This event is “3G+”: everyone should have a test ahead of time\, if possible with digital/official results. Vaccination alone is not sufficient. If more than 20 people attend\, then masks are mandatory. Below that number\, we’ll find consensus of what feels safe between us. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe library’s mission\n\n\n\nThe Equity Library was created in the summer of 2020 to meet an unfulfilled need. A small group of readers\, writers\, book collectors and activists came together online and began to dream of a community resource that highlights marginalised writers and subjects connecting to the work of the aequa community – solidarity\, mutual support\, and social equity. Precisely the resources often missing from mainstream libraries. \n\n\n\nWe imagined a space not only to lend out books and zines but for people to connect to others when they want to\, to exchange thoughts and ideas. We imagined community members discovering the library one day and finding an unexpected gem on the shelves – a book they’d always wanted to read\, or something surprising that would take their learning in a new direction. We imagined the moment in which they found a resource that made them feel more seen and less alone. \n\n\n\nLater in the year\, we began to pool these resources from donations and to create the structures needed to run the project. The work of organising a library brought us together as an international and horizontal collective and created a caring space to dream together under a winter of pandemic lockdowns. aequa community supporters -volunteers\, co-workers and members of working groups – began to make appointments to take out resources and told us how much they enjoyed them. The library was becoming real! \n\n\n\nNow that the community centre that hosts the library is open again\, more is possible and our dreams are expanding. More book events. More discussion groups. More spaces for people to sit quietly together and enjoy the materials we’ve been so fortunate to receive. \n\n\n\nWe’re excited to start on this new part of the library journey and if you’d like to join us in organising it\, or become a member of the library itself\, we look forward to hearing from you at aequa dot library at gmail dot com.

SUMMARY:Spacewarming party!
DESCRIPTION:[Deutsch unten]\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWe need a lot of hands to help! Let us know if you can help out\, and how\, by filling in this form. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSave the date! aequa Community Centre is open and it’s time to celebrate! \n\n\n\nAs many of you know\, we originally planned to open with a bang back in March 2020 — to gather our community and friends\, come together and start a new adventure together. \n\n\n\nThe adventure ended up looking a bit different than we planned for\, but it’s thanks to this community and so many volunteer efforts that we are happily still nestled in our cosy space in Berlin Wedding\, and now feeling restored and ready to emerge into this new reality. \n\n\n\nWe’ll be coming together to share space and to dream of new adventures. We especially want to say a special thanks to all the volunteers who have given their time and energy to make this possible. Here’s what you can expect: \n\n\n\nMusic! YoutTube Karaoke! Some of the members of the C1 Collective\, who share our Workshop space at Exerzierstr. 13\, will be providing music from 15:00-18:00. Then from 19:00-21:00 we’ll have signups for a fierce session of YouTube Karaoke! Food! Coffee! Drinks! These are all available on a donation basis. Thank you to Lulu for cooking and to Mariama for leading our drinks station. \n\n\n\nCrafting table and Equity Zine-making! In the downstairs lounge\, we’ll have some quieter activities for those of us who might be a bit more introverted\, or just like to do things with our hands while we talk. You’ll be able to colour pictures of Queer Animals\, or get involved in our Equity Zine-making station! Colouring table is kid-friendly! Open Mic Shines-and-ShoutoutsIn the evening\, an open mic for Shines + Shoutouts — a chance to celebrate our accomplishments together and cheer each other on\, especially since we did not get to have these celebrations throughout the pandemic \n\n\n\nQuality In-Person HangsAnd of course\, there will be plenty of space to hang out on chairs and sofas inside for those who feel comfortable\, or outside in the garden for those who want more ventilation and covid safety. And of course\, we will have some surprises! \n\n\n\nIMPORTANT: 3G\, with COVID TEST REQUIREDWe have decided to show our solidarity to the more immunocompromised and high-risk folks in our community by requesting that everyone who attends has a negative COVID result before entering\, regardless of their vaccination or recovery status. As we all know\, even those in recovery and with vaccination have the possibility to pass the virus\, so by all testing\, we help care for and protect each other. If you can’t afford to take a test at an Apoteke or testing center\, we will have some self-tests on site that you can take before entering. Thanks for cooperating – testing is caring! \n\n\n\nWe can’t wait to see you there. 🎉 \n\n\n\nABOUT AEQUA EVENTS \n\n\n\nMore information about events at aequa Community Centre – including safer spaces and access information here. \n\n\n\nGET HOME SAFE \n\n\n\nAs this is an in-person event at aequa CC\, we’ll be using Get Home Safe. Donations collected in our Get-Home-Safe pot can be used by people at risk for whatever they need to get home safer: a taxi\, a public transport ticket\, a ride-share etc. \n\n\n\nYou can make use of the fund by asking the person in charge of any event at aequa CC. They will help you out\, no questions asked. \n\n\n\nYou can support by dropping some change into the donation pot. Thank you! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWir brauchen noch viele helfende Hände! Lasst uns wissen\, ob und wie ihr helfen könnt\, indem ihr dieses Formular ausfüllt. \n\n\n\n\n\nSave the Date!

SUMMARY:Equity Reading Circle - early November
\n\n\n\nOur next book is Revolting Prostitutes: The Fight For Sex Workers’ Rights by Molly Smith and Juno Mac

SUMMARY:Equity Reading Circle - early October

SUMMARY:Neurodivergent Mutual Support Group - mid September
DESCRIPTION:RSVP here to join and get the Zoom link. https://airtable.com/shrLpVNPfUKPLu8FJ \n\n\n\nWednesday\, September 15th 20214pm-6pm Berlin time (UTC+1)On Zoom \n\n\n\nJoin us for the next meeting of our Neurodivergent Peer Support Group! (More information on Neurodiversity here and here) \n\n\n\nThis group will be held in English. \n\n\n\nWHAT IS A PEER SUPPORT GROUP? \n\n\n\nPeer Support Groups are a chance for a group of individuals with a common experience (in this case being neurodivergent) to collaborate to solve problems they share. We will be able to voice our challenges\, and then be giving each other feedback\, advice and ideas to help us conquer them. This is a great opportunity to help someone struggling with the same challenges or share how you overcame them. \n\n\n\nThis is the pilot meeting in our newly founded Neurodivergent Peer Support Group. Our aim is to co-organise these meetings as a group and maintain its horizontal structure\, so anyone is welcome to step up as a facilitator. No prior experience with facilitation is needed. It’s a valuable skill for anyone and we will teach you how to do it in the safe space of the group. \n\n\n\nHOW IT WORKS \n\n\n\nWe’ll kick off the the group by having a structured conversation led by facilitators where everyone can introduce themselves\, and share either their struggles or experiences around living their life as a neurodivergent individual. We’ll then brainstorm possible ways how to support each other and decide on the future development and structure of this group. There will be a 10-minute access break in the middle of the session. \n\n\n\nWHO IS THE PEER SUPPORT GROUP FOR? \n\n\n\naequa Peer Support Groups give folks with certain affinities (for example: similar interests\, challenges or experiences) the chance to offer mutual support in the form of peer-to-peer mentorship\, feedback\, advice and discussion. We will be tackling the important topic of landing recurring revenue\, honing positive mindsets and any blocks we might have around this theme. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will be held in English. \n\n\n\nWHAT IS A PEER SUPPORT GROUP? \n\n\n\nPeer Support Groups are a chance for a group of individuals with a common trait (in this case being freelance or self-employed) to collaborate to solve common problems. We will be able to voice our current challenges\, and then be giving each other feedback\, advice and ideas to help us conquer them. This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise if you’ve been in the freelance game for a while\, or of course for people starting out and getting to grips with managing their finances and money mindsets as a self-employed person. \n\n\n\nThis is our second meeting in our newly founded Freelance Peer Support Group. Our aim is to co-organise these meetings as a group\, so anyone is welcome to step up as a facilitator. It’s a valuable experience which adds up to the skillset of anyone who’s freelancing or working remotely often and we will teach you how to do it. \n\n\n\nHOW IT WORKS \n\n\n\nWe’re going to be having a structured conversation led by facilitators where everyone can share either their struggles or experiences around managing finances as a freelancer\, and we’ll then brainstorm some solutions to share. It’s all about finding inspiration\, sharing knowledge and taking positive action. There will be a 10-minute access break in the middle of the session. \n\n\n\nWHO IS THE FREELANCE PEER SUPPORT GROUP FOR? \n\n\n\naequa Peer Support Groups give folks with certain affinities (for example: similar interests\, challenges or experiences) the chance to offer mutual support in the form of peer-to-peer mentorship\, feedback\, advice and discussion. This also gives a forum to wrestle with how those with shared challenges or advantages can help to build a more equitable future for all. \n\n\n\nWHO CAN JOIN? \n\n\n\nThe Freelance Peer Support Group is for Freelancers or Self-Employed people\, or anyone interested in becoming so. \n\n\n\nThis meetup is for anyone with an open\, respectful\, and collaborative mindset. \n\n\n\nPrior attendance to a PSG meetup or aequa event is not required. \n\n\n\nRSVP here to join and get the Zoom link. https://airtable.com/shrrYNxIUbMJNWVUd \n\n\n\nYOUR FACILITATORS \n\n\n\nTerri Harel is a freelance program manager and editor based in Berlin. Her favorite things about freelancing are project variety and flexibility\, but least favorites are—like most freelancers—taxes and expense tracking. \n\n\n\nABOUT AEQUA \n\n\n\naequa is a community for social equity — a network of people united by our shared vision of a world in which everyone can thrive. We co-create spaces for mutual support\, collective empowerment\, and collaborative action.
