DESCRIPTION:31st March\,  Noon (CST)\, 6pm (GMT/UK)\, 7pm (CEST/Germany)\, \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSign up here to receive a zoom invitation. \n\n\n\nSometimes visibility isn’t enough. During these intense times\, solidarity has never been more important. For this Trans Day of Visibility\, Kes Otter Lieffe and aequa are organising a solidarity event to write to trans folk in prisons. \n\n\n\nWhile many people on the outside are beginning to understand what isolation means\, incarcerated trans people know it all too well and receiving letters and cards can be a lifeline to a caring community. \n\n\n\n>>The session will be online and in English.<< \n\n\n\nWe’ll hear some short presentations from prisoner solidarity organisations\, then we can write our letters and cards separately – but also together\, gathered in a cozy\, online space – and send them off. \n\n\n\nWe’ll provide you with addresses to post them to in the UK and possibly the US and other places*. We’ll also give some considerations for writing/posting safely during the pandemic. \n\n\n\nDon’t worry if you’ve never written to someone in prison before\, we’ll give you some tips and starters! \n\n\n\n_ _ _ _ \n\n\n\nThis event is hosted by: \n\n\n\naequa (a community for social equity working on mutual support\, collective empowerment and collaborative action in Berlin\, Germany )  \n\n\n\nKes Otter Lieffe (trans feminist author and organiser) \n\n\n\n_ _ _ _ \n\n\n\nin collaboration with: \n\n\n\nBooks Beyond Bars UK\, a collective of volunteers who send books and other educational materials\, free of charge\, to incarcerated LGBTQIA+ people across the United Kingdom.  \n\n\n\nLGBT Books to Prisoners (A trans-affirming\, racial justice-focused\, prison abolitionist project sending books to incarcerated LGBTQ-identified people across the United States)  \n\n\n\nSolidarity Apothecary (UK herbal apothecary materially supporting revolutionary struggles and communities with plant medicines)  \n\n\n\n_ _ _ _ \n\n\n\n*We’ll update this description as we confirm other participants and details.
